The field of mental health mobile apps is slowly maturing as more bigger players enter the field with new apps. Today, Pfizer announced their new mobile app to track depression.

“The app, called Moodivator and designed with help from the Virginia Commonwealth University of Medicine, includes features such as a mood tracker. The tracker is a simple scale that lets patients throughout the day measure their emotional self-awareness and share the results securely with family or mental health professionals.”

It remains to be seen how well patients will be able to utilize these trackers to improve their health. But I remain optimistic as the whole field of study continues to develop and gather data.
